THE MINISTRY

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In 1943 I was born in my grandmother’s house with a veil on my face. My kinfolk agreed that I was marked for something and would be able to see spirits.  I have since learned that such a one was earmarked to be a prophet unto The Lord.  And as far back as I can remember, I was interested in the “church culture” into which I was born.  While other children were playing or sleeping, I listened intently to the pastor and pondered his word.  I wanted to know this Jesus he preached so passionately about.

After basic Training in an atmosphere where men denied the work of preaching The Kingdom of God to any woman, I delivered an ultimatum to God.  It was true, I did feel the tug of God’s calling in my heart, but the voices of many of those around me insisted that God did not call women to preach.

After stepping over more than enough fleeces and signs that said “Yes, it is me calling you”, I gave God an ultimatum that really was a desperate cry for authentication of His ordination.  I said to Him aloud, “Okay God, here is the deal. I will not go and preach until you pull me to the curb and put your knee in my chest. Then I will know it is you. Then I will go”.

I ended up in the hospital. I received forty units of blood and fifteen pints of platelets. At one point my blood pressure was 70/0 (seventy over nothing). I remained in Critical ICU for three days and three nights with a specialist nurse at my bedside. When all the tubes and wires were taken from my body and I was moved upstairs to a private room, my doctor pulled his chair up to my bed and said, “Tell me, did you have any out of body experiences.”? I replied simply, “No”.

What is my Mission? My mission is to bring God glory; to have Him sit heavy in the atmosphere of this earth and swear by Himself and elicit the praise of His people.

What is my Focus? My focus is Jesus Christ. It is through His eyes that I make sense of the world. I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

What is my ministry? My ministry is to continue in the work of Jesus who said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”. Luke 4:18

By the grace of God, I intend to make the most of the time, talent, and gift that the Lord gave me for Kingdom building. God told me and Holy Spirit confirmed it and Jesus supplied the faith (Galatians 2:20) . I want to share The Lord with as many people as I can for as long as I can and in as many ways as I can.

One day my son said,” Momma why don’t you have a little church at the house. I can come and hear the Word” That is the way God got my attention again. There are many twists and turns in my story that I will have the opportunity to share later. However, this time, I wasn’t about to tell God to pull me to the curb and put His knee in my chest again. And so, Mamachurchonline.org caught hold.
